WILLIAM REGAL INTERVIEW WITH THE DAILY STAR

The Daily Star website has posted a very interesting interview with WWE's very own William Regal posted on February 13th. He speaks openly about his heart scare and his quick recovery.

About his most recent rivalry with CM Punk, he says:

"I’ve been fan of Punk for a long time now. I’d
heard about him from his work with ROH."

Regal goes on: “If I liked him before, I’m very
impressed now."

“It’s been a long time since I found anyone in the
ring who I have this sort of special connection with."

Notes:
- Randy Orton made quite the entrance in his hometown of St. Louis with his sling supporting his arm, reminding all of us that he is out three more months due to injury from a motorcycle accident. Some people don’t like Randy Orton. I like him because he makes a great heal and he has great abs. :)
The usual business of a heel is to due some trash talking. Randy delivered. He said that Raw was an absolute joke without him. He named some names like Beth Phoenix, Santino Marella, and CM Punk and implying that they were the people making WWE Raw one big joke. CM Punk walks into the ring to a big pop from audience and reminds Randy that while he isn’t the conventional champion, at least he isn’t the pathetic one standing in the middle of the ring with a sling around his arm.
Randy leaves and JBL enters the ring yelling at Punk for blah blah blah….I think you know JBL well enough to know what he is pissed about.
Kane and Batista roll out and a little brawl breaks out maybe as a preview of the battle royal that would take place later on.
Overall, Raw kicked of to an exciting start. It was nice to see Randy Orton after a long hiatus and I am sorry that we won’t be seeing him for awhile. On the other hand, I loved seeing more of CM Punk!!! :)
- What is up with Charlie Haas? The poor guy can’t even get his own gimmick, he has to borrow from Carlito and John Cena to get onto TV. I don’t know where this angle is going. I feel bad for this guy. He comes out pretending to be somebody else and then gets his but kicked. I have a feeling that he will be released soon, since the creative team cannot use him in a resourceful way.
- I thought that Randy Orton bitch slapping Cody Rhodes was hysterically funny!!! The WWE superstars have been doing a lot of bitch slapping recently.
- It’s great to see Jamie Noble on television more often. He has an angle with Layla and it seems that it might take more to impress her, but he is winning her over. I like this angle and I hope to see more of Jamie Noble. How can anyone not like him? He is so lovable.
- I love Honk-a-Meter. More Honk-a-meter please!!! Santino tried to get back at Randy Orton. So he put up a Honk-a-Meter and compared himself to the Honky Tonk Man. It was so random that it was funny.
- Rey Mysterio comes back and tries to wop some giant ass with the 619 around the ring post. He is successful with the 619, but eventually gets his ass wopped by Kane. I don’t know what these guys are thinking when facing Kane. It’s FREAKING KANE for God sakes! I’d be running the other way.
- Of course, last but not least – HBK and the Ayatollah of Rock n’ Rolla end the show with a contract signing. This segment was very intense and I liked it. At the same time I am wondering when this rivalry will end, because it has dragged on for too long. They do some smack talking in the middle of the ring. They sign the contract. Shawn Michaels has a McCain moment and says that he will tell his children someday that daddy looked evil right in the face and kicked his ass…well I’m paraphrasing but I pretty sure it went something like that. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho look like their about to have a little Smackdown until Lance Cade runs in and wants a piece of the sexy boy. HBK fights with Lance Cade which ends with Lance getting a kick in the head. (Poor Lance!) Chris Jericho is no where to be seen. Raw goes off the air.

NOTES:
· I really like the chemistry between Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella. The pairing creates great comedy. I enjoyed watching Satino celebrate while sitting on top of Beth’s shoulders!
· CM Punk beat JBL! WooHoo! My man keeps his title. Well….in my head he’s my man. He doesn’t know it yet.
· The ECW title match was boring and pointless! I was hoping that Matt Hardy would come away with the title, but instead he won through disqualification. I’m extremely disappointed. It wasn’t much of a match at all. It ended in like two seconds with Tony Atlas interfering in the match.
· I glad Triple H won…I just hate watching the Great Khali…
· I want this rivalry between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels to end. Chris Jericho hits Shawn Michaels’ wife and he doesn’t fight back? What the hell?
· I enjoyed the match between Batista and John Cena and was surprised that is didn’t end in disqualification. Batista defeated Cena, but the match had an amazing build up. Every time one of them kicked out of a count out, you could hear the crowd getting louder and louder.
· The Hell in The Cell match was the most anticipated with the return of the Undertaker. I was looking forward to the match the most. I loved watching it, but I can't help feeling a little disappointed. They were tearing each other apart…including the cell, LoL. I guess I was hoping to see both of them get on top of the cell and fight it out ad have some one fall from the top a la Mick Foley. None-the-less, I loved the ending with the Undertaker coming back into the ring and choke slamming Edge from the ladders and breaking huge hole into the mat. Fire shot out of the hole as the Undertaker did his iconic pose.

“This was the BEST Khali match I have seen. HHH did a great job of making him
look decent in the ring. It was nice to see that some one could.”

“Cena/Batista . . . everything I expected to see in this match and with a lot
more. The spot at the end when Cena tried to do something crazy off the ropes
and got power bombed was amazing, I was a little suprised that it was a clean
win though. It's so weird to see the cut off in supporters in person. I mean
everyone under 15 really loves Cena but anyone with a drivers license can't
stand him. The guy just keeps going out and putting on great shows. And on
another side note, I would love to see one of these wrestlers take a hearing test, I mean I was about as far away
from the entrance as possible and my ears were ringing at some of their pyro. I
couldn't imagine being 5 feet away. INSANE!And for the HIAC . . . WOW WOW WOW. I
think there were 4 "Holy S***" chants during this match. The cage/spear spot was
crazy as was everything else. The match itself might have been one of the top
Cell matches of all time. There were obviously ones that were better but this
was a lot of fun to watch. My jaw actually dropped several times. The ending was
something I have never seen before. The fire at the end was so unexpected. I
wonder how they will play this off when Edge returns.”

- I am very excited about this coming Summerslam. The match-ups look great...except I would have perfered a Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy match-up for the WWE Title, but nevertheless we will be seeing Triple H in action.
- I suppose soon enough Jeff Hardy and MVP will be added to the line up from the recent rivalry they have built up. I will be excited to see that put on the card as well.
- Of course, my man CM Punk will be wrestling and hopefully will become victorious over JBL. I have nothing against JBL. I like him just fine...it's just I have a mjor crush on CM Punk and not on JBL. :)

Notes:

• Raw this evening had a lively crowd. They were hyped from beginning to end.
• Believe it or not, I am beginning to like Mike Adamle as the new Raw GM. I can see him becoming a great heel.
• I liked seeing my favorite Diva Mickie James in action. Beth Pheonix attacks her from behind after her match with Katie Lea. This sets up another rivalry with Mickie James. Santino Marrella comes out to cheer on his lovely lady. I like the whole angle with Beth and Santino. It's very funny. I enjoyed the segment between Santino and Adamle, as well. Or is it Ad-em-le? Oh yea....what is up with Santino's newly grown Uni brow?
• The handicap match with JBL, Chris Jericho, and CM Punk was highly entertaining. It was nice to hear the crowd chanting Punk's name.
• I don't understand why HBK only has a promo for Summerslam. He's not performing? Oh yea...and about that eye injury....if HBK can comeback from a back injury, then I think that he can comeback from an eye injury like a piece of cake.
• I'm getting board of this Kane and sack thing...can we get that moving along, please?
• John Cena bitch slaps Batista....daaaammnnnn!

SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT RESULTS 8.2.08

Well the Main Event has come and gone. Here are the Results:

• EIGHT MAN TAG MATCH: The team of JBL, KANE, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE defeated the team of JOHN CENA, CRYME TIME, and BATISTA.
• THE GREAT KHALI defeats JIMMY WANG YANG
• EDGE defeats JEFF HARDY

Notes:

- It was nice to see CM Punk, but I was disappointed that he was only doing commentary. Isn't he the World Heavyweight Champion? Shouldn't he have had a match at SNME? I think he should've because I think he is that damn talented enough to have a slot on the card...and I have a crush on him...lol

- Am I the only one who find it disturbing when everytime JBL moves his man boobs jiggle...like alot?

- I liked that I got to see some Jimmy Wang Yang action. :) I didn't like seeing more of The Great Khali. :(

- Great match between Edge and Jeff Hardy. Loved hearing the Hardy chants. I hated the commercial breaks in between matches!

- Again, I have to congradulate Jenny McCarthy on going out and promoting Generation Rescue! It is a great cause and I hope that people donate after this show.

Punk Wins! Punk Wins! Punk Wins!

On the night of June 30th, I didn’t bother to watch Monday Night Raw. I was tired and I went to bed early. When I turned off the light, I assumed Raw would be any other and that maybe it wasn’t worth taking away some more hours of sleep. Call me an idiot! I should have known better considering what had happened on the previous Monday’s draft.

The draft shook things up and left Raw with a roster of new talent. J.R. was replaced by Michael Cole. Triple H left for Smackdown. Batista joined the Raw roster. The most important addition, in my opinion, was CM Punk. I see this young wrestler as the future of the WWE. I was glad to know that he would be moving away from ECW, but a little worried.

The yearly movement of what is known as the WWE draft has, in the past, left some young hopefuls high and dry. Take for London and Kendrick for example. I remember watching Smackdown as they were the tag team champions. I loved to watch them wrestle, because they had reminded me of the earlier days of the Attitude Era tag team glory (a la The Hardy’s and Edge and Christian). Obviously L&K are different, because they had their own flair. Once they moved to Raw, I swear I haven’t seen them since. Sadly enough, Carlito was caught in a similar situation. Carlito had a wonderful place in Smackdown where he carried on a very memorable rivalry with John Cena. Since moving to Raw, he hasn’t gotten much face time. Hell, I can’t even remember the last time he was in a big storyline.

I was hoping that CM Punk wouldn’t be caught in that predicament. Smackdown seemed like a better place for a young talent. Now Smackdown seems like a totally different show since they have pumped it up with a lot of star power. Thinking about it now, it’s a good thing that CM Punk didn’t move to Smackdown. He might have been drowned out by all the older and more popular talent on that show. He might have not been given that chance to shine.

Tuesday morning I woke up, took a shower and turned on the computer. I was in total shock when I found out that CM Punk had won the World Heavyweight Championship. I quickly tried to find clips online of Punk winning the WHC and played it over and over again. I wasn’t expecting him to cash in the Money in the Bank so soon by the way that the company had handled him. He hasn’t been in any kind of real solid storyline in recent months. Punk made small appearances on Smackdown and Raw since winning MITB. He had a short tag team run with Kane. However, CM Punk wasn’t utilized for his vocal promo talent. I would see short glimpses here and there. I enjoyed the banter he shared with Edge on one episode of Smackdown. Sadly, he has to follow a script. He isn’t allowed to rip as he did in the ROH days. If one searches for CM Punk on youtube, one is bound to find tons of CM Punk/ROH promos. Punk is a very talented man on the mic, especially when he is a heel. I think that CM Punk is at his best when he acts as a heel. He has a certain type of charisma and arrogance that oozes out of him when he speaks. He can make any crowd love to hate him. That is probably why CM Punk has a faithful following. Wrestling fans know what he is capable of and continue to cheer him on even though his natural talent is being held back.


CM Punk is now being presented as the underdog, which isn’t a bad thing. It bothers me a little, because I feel that the WWE is presenting their World Heavy Weight Champion as weak. The match against Batista at the Great American Bash was a decent match until Kane got involved at which it ended in a double disqualification. This past Raw ended the same way with JBL interfering in the round 2 Batista Championship match (which by the way was a good match). The fans weren’t interested in either match. There was hardly a pop, except for a few cheers and jeers at the beginning and ending. This feels very troubling to me. This should be a moment for CM Punk to shine.
For whatever reason, CM Punk isn’t being utilized to the fullest…at for now. I don’t know what the plans are for him. The WWE recognizes the talent of Punk, otherwise why would they give him the win for Money in the Bank. Maybe, all this is a set up for something bigger. At least this is what I am hoping. Maybe, they are putting a leash on him at moment and later letting him go to roar in further glory. I think a rematch with Batista when he can beat him 1…2…3…will be a good push for Punk. Who knows when that will happen?
I am a hopeful person. I’m glad that CM Punk is getting a lot of face time on Raw. People who weren’t familiar with him are getting to know him better. Once the WWE can let him be, the fans can finally see the true champion that CM Punk is.
